The Tri-Schools Alumni Association held its 11th Annual Unity Banquet on Dec. 2 at Liberty-Eylau Middle School.
The association was organized by Morris Neighbors in 1996, combining the three alumni groups of Dunbar, Macedonia and Washington high schools. The groups work together to perpetuate the legacy of Texarkana’s three former black high schools and to promote local youth.
Through the Tri-Schools Alumni Unity Banquet, six local high school students are provided a forum to demonstrate their artistic and public speaking talents, thereby gaining recognition and cash awards. This year’s keynote speaker was Mel Bradley, a Dunbar graduate and former Special Assistant to President Ronald Reagan. Arthalia Hardy was honored with the Annual Achievement Award.
